Christ of Jerusalem

The Basilica of Christ of Jerusalem is located 200 meters west of Kalymnos Town, Limniotissa, next to the asphalt road leading from Chora to Panormos. It is characterized as a three-aisled Early Christian basilica and is built with ancient building material from the Ionic Temple of Delian Apollo. According to tradition, the temple was built by Saint Helen or Arcadius upon their return from Jerusalem in the 5th century AD. and was destroyed in the mid-6th century by an earthquake.

The central aisle is paved with large marble slabs, while in the south a mosaic composition has been discovered that includes animals in a natural environment.

Today, ruins of the temple are preserved, proving its oldest majesty.
