Prophet Elias

The chapel of Prophet Elias dominates at the highest point of the island, at the homonymous peak of the central mountain range of Kalymnos and at an altitude of about 785 meters. The church is one-roomed and arched. The panoramic view from the point is magnificent, as you can observe the islands around you and admire the beauty of nature.

If you head to the chapel in the afternoon, it will surely enslave you with its warm colors as it sinks into the sea.

The church is also called Prophet Elias "Psilos" (high).

Due to the location of the church, you will need to walk for about two hours. The path is quite rough, so be prepared as appropriate shoes are required for the route. Keep in mind the time you need to climb the mountain to get back in time, in the event of a nightfall, otherwise you will need lighting equipment.

Paths

There are two paths you can follow:

the first begins at the end of the dirt road, which passes by the Castle of Chora and heads north.
the second starts from the chapel of Agios Nikolaos, located west of the town of Vathi.
